To Ananda, our island paradise of Hainan is a precious gift that we believe should be preserved at all costs. We are lucky enough to operate from an unspoiled part of the world where pollution is unknown and lush tropical greenery springs up all around.

To that end it is important that we minimize our footprint on Hainan Island to preserve this unique environment for generations as yet unborn. We take our responsibilities seriously and ensure that whatever we do has a minimal impact on the ecosystem and indigenous peoples of Hainan Island.

Examples of our commitment to responsible tourism include:

- Using LPG and alternatively powered vehicles wherever possible to minimize carbon emissions and other atmospheric pollutants.

- Recycling all our office paper and toner cartridges and using e-brochures instead of printed material wherever possible.

- Actively supporting local minority communities by recruiting tour guides from amongst them, teaching them English and other languages or improving their current level.

- Encouraging our guests to act responsibly by following the suggestions given on the "Ananda Green Card", a copy of which can be downloaded here.
